In October 2016, composer and sound artist Tyler Lewis came to Scotland – a great location to embark on a PhD that keeps art and nature at the center of his practice. Before becoming more fascinated with the intricacies and potential for working with natural sounds, writing music and performing with fellow musicians took up most of Tyler’s time, until the call to head back to University. He enrolled in the Electroacoustic Studies program at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, earning his Bachelor degree in 2016. While in Montreal Tyler studied multi-channel composition and developed a love for field recording, taking moments of real life and turning them into musical experiences. His compositions and sound installations have been presented in Canada, United States, Germany, Austria, and the United Kingdom. Tyler Lewis was born 1983 and grew up in Olalla, Washington, a small town near Seattle, USA.
